My opinion about Dr Geert Hofstede’s article.

Hi everyone,

My opinion about Dr. Hofstede’s article about Egypt is without DOUBT a POSITIVE OPINION as this is really how we are and how we treat each other although there is only one thing I don’t agree about.

– Power Distance:  everyone knows his place in the society and most people are convinced with it as for example the doorman does not care if he saw his boss who is rich, he will not have a problem with it.

– Individualism: We are a great Nation; we love each other so much. Many people help each other. If it is not for love, it is for shining. People tend to have family businesses and friends tend to be work partners and when friends decide going to college, they try to go to the same college.

– Masculinity / Femininity: That is the point that I don’t agree with because there is difference between males and females in some parts of the country. In Cairo, there is not much of a difference between women and men but in the Southern part, people are more illiterate so they tend to discriminate more

– Uncertainty avoidance: We are that kind of people who are so ambitious and we plan so much for our lives and that thing I realized when I came here to the United States. For example I went to the British high school and in this high school you have to choose your subjects based on your major so I have already planned what I wanted to do with my life before I entered high school.

Every nation has its own characteristics and I am so proud that I am EGYPTIAN and that we have those traits. Thank you for reading and I am ready to hear any opinion from you!
